Maison d'Être is situated in the midst of some of the finest restaurants in the world! You’ll want to taste what the region has to offer, including duck confit, foie gras, Cabecou goat cheese, and walnut pastries, not to mention fresh croissants and an infinite variety of breads! The restaurants listed below are in the village and just a few of our favorites.
Auberge Sombral – Fine dining. Only open for lunch. Situated in the square at the top of the village. Our favorite dish is Talmousse, a house specialty. It is like a hot mousse made of roquefort cheese and walnuts, and it melts in your mouth. Lunch is a great time to eat here. Tell the owner Marion that we sent you!
Bar Lapopie – located on the high road at the top of the village, it has an incomparable view from a lovely arbored terrace. Eating the Fleur du Sel Caramel ice cream on a hot afternoon is one of the highlights of our visits. It is worth the hike up the hill!
Saint Cirq Gourmand” is famous for what they call “French Slow Food.” You select one of the many savory tarts at the counter, which they reheat and deliver to your table with salad and dessert for a VERY reasonable cost. They are famous for their regional, house-made “Pastis” – think French apple pie in ultra flaky pastry! You add beverage and or coffee, and it is complete. Very fast service, great view of the village below. Only open until 7PM so not an option for dinner.
La Truite Dorée in Vers serves great regional food in generous portions at very reasonable prices. If the weather is nice, ask for a table on the terrace. phone: 0565.31.41.51
There is a list of restaurants by location by the phone at the house. Reservations are always recommended during the season.
NOTE: Restaurants are only open 12-2PM for lunch and open at 7 PM for dinner.
