Dining Out

Maison d'Être is situated in the midst of some of the finest restaurants in the world! You’ll want to taste what the region has to offer. The restaurants listed below are in the village and just a few of our favorites.

Auberge Sombral – situated in the square at the top of the village. Our favorite dish is Tarmousse, a specialty of the house. It is like a hot mousse made of roquefort cheese and walnuts, and it melts in your mouth. Lunch is a great time to eat here. Tell the owners, who happen to be the mayor and his family, that we sent you!

Bar Lapopie – located on the high road at the top of the village, it has an incomparable view from a lovely arborerd terrace. Eating the Fleur du Sel Caramel ice cream on a hot afternoon is one of the highlights of our visits.  It is worth the hike up the hill!

La Truite Dorée in Vers serves great regional food in generous portions at very reasonable prices. If the weather is nice, ask for a table on the terrace near the pool.  phone:

L’Oustal has the best “foie gras poele” in the village. Wonderful dining experience. I almost always order the “menu” of the day.

Les Deux Vallees in Conduche is a great place to eat. It used to be an old railways station. The owner is Remy.  Very friendly. Great food. Large portions. Local ingredients. Excellent value.
